Grove Launches a new open-source approach to sustainable AI measurement through its expanded partnership with carbon accounting platform Gravity. The initiative introduces a formula that calculates AI-related emissions by factoring in compute time, server power, and grid emissions data, helping organizations understand and mitigate their AI carbon footprint. As the world’s first plastic-neutral retailer, Grove is now the first to integrate AI emissions into Scope 3 reporting while committing to transparency, offsets, and reduction strategies.

This initiative arrives amid growing concerns about AI’s energy demands and environmental costs, from carbon emissions to e-waste. Grove’s open-source formula is designed to set a precedent, ensuring companies can innovate responsibly while remaining accountable to climate goals.
