C.F. Martin & Co. has unveiled two new signature acoustic guitars, the 00-18 Joe Bonamassa and the 00-10E Retro Joe Bonamassa, both of which are inspired by a 1937 Martin 00-18 shade-top that the renowned blues-rock guitarist considers one of his most personally significant instruments. The higher-end model is handcrafted at the company’s Nazareth, Pennsylvania, facility and features a solid spruce top with genuine mahogany back and sides, Golden Era scalloped X-bracing, a vintage-style neck profile, and a custom sunburst finish with artificially replicated wear patterns that mimic decades of natural playing use. The more accessible version, produced at Martin’s Navojoa, Mexico, workshop, substitutes solid sapele for mahogany, incorporates a Performing Artist neck for a modern feel, and includes Martin E1 electronics with volume, tone, phase controls, and a built-in chromatic tuner.
