Bacardi expanded its circular packaging efforts by signing a global partnership with EcoSpirits, the closed-loop packaging specialist behind systems designed to reduce packaging waste and carbon emissions. The agreement gives Bacardi access to EcoSpirits’ full portfolio, including the EcoTote, SmartPour, EcoPlant and CircularOne software platform for high-volume hospitality environments.
The collaboration builds on a 2023 pilot that distributed Bacardi Carta Blanca rum in EcoTote units aboard Carnival Cruise Line ships. The initiative eliminated more than 130,000 single-use glass bottles and reduced packaging waste by over 82,000 kilograms. Bacardi also supported the development of the EcoTote 3.0SC Cruise Edition, which features enhanced corrosion resistance and compliance with U.S. hygiene regulations for maritime operations.
For operators and consumers, the partnership could expand access to refillable, technology-enabled spirits dispensing across cruise ships, resorts and hospitality venues. The agreement reflects the beverage industry’s growing investment in reusable packaging systems that reduce waste while maintaining efficient, large-scale service.
