AI-automated dental labs are helping laboratories increase case capacity without requiring proportional growth in skilled technician teams. Relu’s AI platform automates design and administrative tasks associated with dental products including crowns, night guards and dental models. Its pay-per-case Relu Automate platform allows technicians to process more cases by reducing repetitive manual work throughout design and workflow processes. Already handling more than one million cases annually across laboratories in 82 countries, Relu is using a $1.75 million strategic investment from Dental Innovation Alliance to strengthen its presence in the US market.

For dental laboratories, AI automation could help address technician shortages while allowing existing employees to focus on higher-value responsibilities. The pay-per-case model also provides a scalable way to adopt automation without significant upfront infrastructure. For dental technology providers, growing demand for lab productivity tools creates opportunities to build software that increases capacity while supporting faster business growth.
